Kotobuki is where I had my first sushi experience. I was at work and someone told me about sushi (something I had not heard of) and I wanted to try it. My friend brought back California Roll (I was obviously a "newbie" to sushi - this is one of those benign, "safe" rolls for the sushi beginner to try (that really has nothing too exciting in it in my opinion - not true sushi if you ask me, but it works). I was very hungry and decided to hole away in my office and enjoy this new treat undisturbed. My friend had mentioned that California Roll had avocado in it. Inside my to-go box I saw this big clump of green stuff. I thought - wow - guacamole (avocado, right?)...NOT! I took my fork, picked up the entire glob of green stuff ~ of which I now realize is WASABI - and put the entire thing in my mouth. Imagine a hole that became burned in the middle of my chest - I enjoy really hot and spicy foods - but this was unexpected! The moral of the story is - THEY DO NOT SERVE GUACAMOLE IN A JAPANESE RESTAURANT! hahaha After my third time of trying sushi I was hooked.

My favorites at Kotobuki include the Florida Roll and the Hunky Dory Roll (has scallops!). This is also where I became enamorate with eel sauce. I don't even bother with soy and wasabi - it's eel sauce only - and on occassion the spicy sauce. Be sure to read my "Sushi Facts" page for more info about these two delectable sauces. Kotobuki used to have a chef named Aki. He was awesome - I hear he's in Orlando now. He made the best Spicy Conch.
